Pleasant but expensive
The bed was very comfortable and the room was cleaned every day, which was a bonus. The bathroom was well appointed and the toiletries were lovely. However - the bathroom had a sliding door that didn’t lock and the door was very close to one side of the bed, so not a lot of privacy!
The room cost is expensive, I think we paid £200 per night. That seems too much for basic facilities in an out-of-town location, although the park is beautiful.
We had dinner once at The Abacus. Food was fine, but just that, it wasn’t high end. Also, as the restaurant was busy that night, it took ages for the food to arrive.
Would we stay again? We probably wouldn’t have occasion to, but a central location might suit us better.

Request a room on the long side of the hotel!
Breakfast was good, but constantly busy. I definitely recommend the vegetarian Scottish breakfast, if standard Scottish breakfast skeeves you out (it does me!). The vegetarian haggis was delicious, and had me researching recipes to make it at home. The coffee machine was just like one we have at home, and definitely appreciated. The breakfast crew seems like college kids, which is fine, but it seemed like they were...lost? They looked unsure, and there were lots of broken dishes and glasses.
One thing to mention: my husband had asked at the front desk to make a reservation in the restaurant for the evening, and the front desk clerk mentioned that he would. We came down at the time we said we would, and there was no record of the reservation. After quite a kerfluffel with the wait staff and manager, we were seated in the bar area, and told that we would need to hurry, because they had a full house. It was annoying, as we were kind of treated like we didn't belong. Not a deal-breaker, because we are tough cookies, but annoying nonetheless, and worth mentioning.

We had a lovely meal at The Abacus, the staff was very nice, didn’t caught the manager name, but he was very helpful and patient. Bonus there was Ev charging too.
