Restful and pleasant stay while being in the heart of Cairo

Top rooftop bar in Downtown Cairo

Visited the rooftop bar a couple of times during my stay in Cairo. Only a few blocks from Tahrir Square, but quite hard to find. You can easily miss the entrance to the ropey looking hotel. The lobby is dark and you might have to use the light on your phone to find the lift in the corner to take you to the 10th floor. The lift, by the way, is tiny and rattles up the ten floors in a haphazard fashion. Not one for the claustrophobic...
The rooftop bar is fantastic. Obviously seen better days but has a certain charm. The view is of squalid residential buildings in the immediate vicinity with a wider vista out towards the Cairo Tower. Lovely service from the waiter and I enjoyed a couple of bottles of (Egyptian) Stella in this peaceful environment before braving the lift back down to the ground floor and walking out into the bedlam and anarchy that is downtown Cairo.

Sunset drink at the rooftop bar

Dropped in to the hotel for a drink on our last night in Cairo. Old time style inside and a clean bathroom. Fun to be up high and see across the city as night time fell. Ordered beer, hot chips and soft drinks, plus a shisha. Chips were good! Quite expensive. Shisha was charged separately and it was difficult to play both bills together. The bar was empty when we arrived but started to fill up later.

Only good for a drink

The place isnt that good to stay in, but if you are there to grab a drink on the rooftop then ur gonna enjoy it, just try to pick a quite spot because it gets really loud when it is full of other guests. Cheap drinks, good ones actually. The waiter was really helpful and always smiling.

Bar review only ...

I had been told that this bar heartened back to a golden age of downtown Cairo where the theater crowd used to hang out. While that may be true, it doesn't have the old world charm of other places downtown, and despite the height, doesn't have the view of other bars. Having said that, the staff was friendly, the drinks were reasonably priced, and the atmosphere was cozy.
