Authentic

Friendly staff
Ultra comfortable room (definitely leave the air conditioning on at night otherwise it is too hot)
Be aware that the Wi-Fi does not reach everywhere (room 28)
Pool temporarily closed (a real shame), breakfast included but frugal yet present.
Unexpected break at the gateway to Death Valley

We booked while traveling and attempted to call the in several times so they would know that we would arrive after 10 pm and see if we could work out an alternate check in. No ody answered when we called each time so by 10:30 pm we had to do a complete travel change and find a place to stay in Vegas instead.

I've stayed here many times since the 1980s. It's a great little motel with helpful staff, comfortable beds and a nice courtyard highlighted by a big salt Cedar tree. The "town" of Shoshone is pretty much the motel, the restaurant/bar, the general store/gas station and the post office. The perfect town from which to visit Death Valley.

Very nice place near Death Valley

We had no idea what we were getting into, but made reservations anyway because there is very slim pickings to stay anywhere near Death Valley.
What a nice surprise! We got one of the rooms with a kitchen area and it had a nice clean working kitchen along with a nice shower and beds, all well-designed and fit into a small room.
The common area outside had a couple of tables and a few chairs. The monster-size trees and beautiful flowering bushes were amazing. There is some kind of water table near the surface and some greenery, even in the middle of summer in this desert.
Very well maintained, and owners are gradually making improvements on what is already a very nice motel.

It was a great place to stay, and Shoshone was a fab village, with all the things you need right outside - somewhere to eat, have a drink, get petrol, buy essential goods and also souvenirs. It was also good to be able to walk around, seeing the work being done locally to preserve and improve the natural environment. The Inn is very well done and has some extra special touches - we loved the outside seating under the beautiful trees, and the firepit at night making it great to have somewhere not in your room to sit and enjoy the peace and surroundings. Our only problem was an incident with the fire alarms, which went off before 4am on our second/last night. It carried on going off every few minutes until sometime around 7.30am when a maintenance person arrive at the Inn. Sadly our night's rest was lost and everyone suffered as they went off in all the rooms and there wasn't a contact number for anyone to call about the problem.
