Heythrop Park 4 day break this week.

Huge place. Didn't realise the standard room windows n the South Wing didn't open when I booked. Yes there's Aircon but I think most ppl like a window to open. It's debatable if you'd find the air con enough . All fans were taken apparently. There isn't a bathroom window either so nowhere for steam to go. It's a little enclosed and stuffy. Must have been a nightmare in the heatwave.
Perhaps staff can advise when booking whether windows open or not. People will not necessarily think to ask that .
The Bedroom doors are extremely heavy too.
Room clean and cleaned during the stay with no problems .
We enjoyed the pool and the warm outside jacuzzi. The pool is to shallow at one end though and you catch your knees/leg as you swim. The lifeguards do a good job walking round keeping everyone safe. No token or key needed for locker.
We enjoyed the Hot chocolate tribute. The Diana Ross Tribute and the Warner entertainment team doing a country evening.
We also enjoyed the birds of prey display on the lawn although they need some seats. People were sitting on cold stone steps for the older age group it's not very comfortable. Either that or you need to stand through it all. Interesting talk.
Porridge needs stirring, as when it arrived it was not very hot. It's a shame the market kitchen hasn't got coffee/tea machine I'm not sure there's room though.
Members of staff that stood out. Gentleman in the reception don't know his name but he had an accent. Michael who was working in the market kitchen. Possible team leader/guest host. Nice persona. Lilia on the piano also. Nice lady.

Surprised by the average age of guests! Being a group of a 21 year old, a 60 year old, and a 31 year old we found ourselves to be among the youngest guests, the entertainment was geared to a higher age range which we did not know prior to booking.
Staff ranged from fairly helpful to quite abrupt, particularly upon check-in where we were told we would need to pick from a limited time to attend breakfast (which we prepaid for) as we did not pre-book these times - strange! Apparently if you book via a third-party site they do not communicate this. Check in staff did not give a very good explanation of the hotel and its amenities so this should be improved.
The theatre areas are impressive but the nightclub an odd set up with voyeurs!
Close to the places we sought to visit (Oxford, Kingham, Chipping Norton).
Rooms great. Other guests a bit rude - I was asked if I was a part of the evenings entertainment team whilst I was checking in! Overall, nice stately home.

Awful receptions , very rude and ignorant, when asked about a room upgrade which I was happy to pay for she said they hadn’t received my email from earlier in the day and got very argumentative about the situation, I then asked for a manager and she was just as bad. It was very rare to get a smile from anyone at the hotel except a young man called Ben who was a future bookings representative and was most helpful. Maybe Ben should have the Job of a manager as he was the only one that had a smile and was more than willing to resolved the situation and be most helpfull.
3 out of the 4 rooms booked were filthy, hair in one of the beds, mucky carpet and an old men’s shaver left on the bathroom side board. Dirt and stone on the carpet in one of the rooms. 2 cans of water in the superior room fridge and when asked for the rooms to be cleaned properly we were told by the receptionist that room service would be straight to our rooms to clean them up and change the bedding. They never arrived. The Hotel is boarder line a run down nursing home being run by incompetent people who clearly don’t care about re-visiting guests.
The staff in the outside dining area were just as bad and having to wait 1 hour and 20 minutes for food and having asked 3 times too 3 different members of staff then to be told the QR code on the app wasn’t working but I had to show them proof that I had paid on my banking app to then have to wait again for another physical menu to be given to me. I could go on.

Heythrop Park is Stunning

Dodgy start as our room had a problem after some time another room was found was obviously hadn’t been used in a while . Management were considerate and we were given a complimentary cream tea . Heythrop is stunning . The staff are always happy to help without being pushy . The food could sometimes be a little hit and miss. But overall of a very high standard. Reserve seats in. The late theatre if there is a show you particularly want to see . We did for the Motown show . Just as well was standing room only. We preferred Bistro dining beware the portions are huge ! If you prefer to season your own food say do not pour salt all over the fries .( They were inedible)
Heythrop will enchant you . Loads of lifts but quite long walks between venues. South wing parking is great when you leave. But hard going up hill with heavy cases many people struggled with this . I believe there had previously
been a service to assist with luggage but this is no longer available. We intend to return next year . An excellent day out can be had at Batford arboretum .

Constantly getting lost.

Excellent food and facilities.However the site is massive and getting lost is unavoidable Lifts are impossible to find as there are no corridor signs.Consequently you have to follow corridors until you find one I gave up trying to get to the spa Eventually I got there by walking along the road.Signage to y room when exiting lift could not be found .No handrails on the main building or garden steps Unable to honour a room upgrade I won I hate giving negative reviews
