Great location, great views from some rooms (not ours)
My wife and I stayed 2 nights in the 3-bedroom Apartment 6 at El Balcon on a Saturday and Sunday in May.
The apartment was fine, but we would have much preferred one of the suites. I suspect they book up early on weekends. We really liked the location and the relatively tiny number of reviews we read - and photos we saw - on TripAdvisor, so we decided to book the apartment even if the room wasn't our top choice.
The views from the apartment include cattle - with cowbells - grazing in a field to the northeast and the patio and retaining wall to the northwest from the second floor, and a partial view of the mountains to the southwest from the living area on the first floor. The view of the mountains from the patio outside the room are better, and the views from the pool area are great.
The apartment does not have air conditioning, and it warmed up during the day, but opening up the windows in late afternoon or early evening allowed the wind to swiftly sweep out the warm air and cool things down.
El Balcon is up a hill just north of the bustling town of Potes, and although it was a bit of a hike into town - and a rather strenuous walk back up the hill returning from town - we appreciated the pastoral setting and relative quiet of its location.
There is a breakfast option that we took advantage of both mornings, that included coffee, juice, a small assortment of cereals and yogurts, a fruit plate and choice of eggs and toast.
While staying at El Balcon, we ate dinner both nights at La Barrica, one of our favorite restaurants from our entire trip to northern Spain and Portugal (and which I've also reviewed on TripAdvisor). I can't remember another time we've eaten twice at the same restaurant anywhere we've traveled.
We also drove out to the Teleférico Fuente Dé, but it was so cloudy on the mountain they told us we should't bother taking the cable car at the ticket window. On our way back, we encountered some cattle on the road - which helped us understand why we saw so much dung on the roads during our drives through Picos de Europa - and stopped for ice cream (delicious) at Martinez de Cos, and also picked up some goat cheese (delicious) to bring back to the apartment. We also stopped by Tienda Sierra del Oso to pick up some wine (disappointing), and had some wine and cheese on the patio next to the pool.
I'm giving a 4-star rating, with a small deduction due to the suboptimal views from the apartment. I'm sure I would have given a 5-star rating if we'd had the opportunity to stay in a suite at El Balcon.

Just perfect !
We had an absolutely fantastic time at El Balcon de Potes and would highly recommend! We stayed here for three nights (two adults and three teenagers) in two separate apartments. We enjoyed touring in the beautiful Picos de Europa Mountains and relaxing in the lovely pool at the accommodation in the evening before strolling down to the town for dinner in the many restaurants and bars. There is a great laundry room available and we were able to prepare our own breakfast in the apartment as there is a small kitchen and fridge which was great. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. We hope to return to Potes again and will definitely be trying to get this accommodation again.

FIRST CLASS ACCOMMODATION IN POTES
We have just had three outstanding nights at El Balcón de Potes. We have stayed at self catering apartments and hotels all over Europe. El Balcón de Potes is one of the best. The accommodation is new, has been designed with soundproofing so very quiet. The studio was immaculate with a view that cannot be beaten. Our studio apartment was well equipped and the staff very helpful and welcoming. The pool and breakfast area are a 10 and plenty of parking. Book it now.

Excellent
Spacious, modern apartment with beautiful views. We stayed in room 5 which had a small terrace with fantastic view.
It is located at the top of a steep hill so the walk back in the evening is a steep uphill walk.
I will definitely stay here again when in Potes.
