If you are looking for a budget trip, it would be a great idea and lots of restaurants nearby. However, it is quite noisy during midnight and weekends (pub street).

Wouldn’t recommend staying here, unless you are happy to party all night and stay in less than ideal rooms. The room was dirty, there was fecal matter on the walls and stains everywhere. There was an open grate above the door which meant we heard everything, and they put us opposite the lounges so there was noises, loud thumping music and yelling all night.

a disaster
I renew my review after a year, it has managed to worsen tremendously. The floor tiles creak so much that you can hear anyone walking and everything seems to collapse at any moment. They gave us a room with a window that did not soundproof and did not close well, we could not sleep because we felt all the chaos that was in the street (it is in the center). I asked for a thermometer because I was not well and they gave me a broken one, saying that they only had that. a disaster, I really hope they start investing in improving it because the low price is likely to be no longer enough

If you want to sleep at any point during your trip. DO. NOT. STAY. HERE. Firstly, I'm not a moaner- I've travelled all over and stayed in some notably rough places but this hostel was by far the worst.
First, the noise was unbearable- long termers sit downstairs and in the corridors shouting (and I literally mean this) till all hours of the morning and staff (which there is always one manning reception 24/7) do absolutely nothing about it. There is no noise proofing in rooms as there is an open netted window above the doors, so it feels like everyone is literally in the room with you. In the morning from about 5am (so you've had at this point maybe 2 hrs of "quieter" time since the night people have stopped) everyone starts stomping around (the floor boards are so noisy) and talking loudly and again you hear EVERYTHING, I had to sleep with my headphones at full volume playing white noise to get any ounce of sleep.
I'll keep the rest of this mess brief, my room was infested with these tiny flies that covered all the walls. The bed sounded like it was going to fall to pieces, any move and the squeaking noise was insane- I had to move beds but safe to say it wasn't much better. The place is just worn down, showers either broken or boiling/freezing, toilets broken or gross with sanitary bins overflowing, not worth a single dollar let alone 60 odd a night!- I've literally paid 2 dollars for a night in better in SE Asia. Please please do not waste your hard earned money on this.

I only stayed for one night as I had a tour the next day.
I went to the kitchen at 6am before I left and the state of the kitchen was disgusting and had pigeons roaming around for the scraps and the gas hob was left on.
I agree it’s those who stay there and lack of respect they have for the place but surly it should be checked at the end of the night or very early first thing as it’s not everyone’s fault, kinda prevented me from using the kitchen.
There is a sign saying there would be a fine for pots being left out but there was such a mass of them it’s not checked.
The private room itself was clean and had the basics. But the communial areas were off putting
