Perfectly situated opposite the train station
This hotel is a perfect place to rest while in Khiva. It’s directly opposite the train station and close to eating places and approximately 15min walk to Itchan Khala/Ichan Qal’a, the World Heritage Site the beautiful walled inner city. The rooms are large, clean and have AC. Breakfast was a large selection of fruit, salads, bread, nuts, jams and cakes. We were also served a trio of eggs and bowls of local hot porridge. The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially Sulaiman who also speaks excellent English. The hotel let us check-in early and check-out later for free which we really appreciated. We booked a taxi with the hotel in advance to pick us up from Urgench Airport to the hotel which was easy to do. I would definitely return here and highly recommend Hotel UMAR.

Definitely not 5 stars
Good parking, attentive reception staff and a fair breakfast.
The room, however, was very poor.
The air conditioning had no effect at all. The bedding had stains, the poorly appointed bathroom was not well cleaned (underneath the non-slip mat was horrible) and there was hair from a previous guest. The shower head was chipped and showering was awkward
As well as a working air conditioner, the room needed soundproofing. I was awoken by two gentlemen chatting on a bench below my room at 2am, whilst through the paper-thin walls I could hear every word of conversations in the next room.
The floor's wifi router was positioned right next to my pillow on a windowsill, awkwardly wired from outside, and occupying one of my room's plugs.
The location is quite a walk from the Khiva walls and not as close as is inferred, however, it is conveniently near a large mall, but there was no fridge in the room.
It's one thing to have a good front-of-house, but the whole staff need to carry through the dedication to quality and guest comfort as a team.

Great hotel
Great hotel very good location right in front of the train station and 8min by taxi from the citadel knowing that taxi costs less than 1st.the cleanliness of the place the kindness of the staff and special mention for the incredibly good and fresh breakfast

Very nice stay
Very good location, just across the street to train station, 2 min walk.
So exellent if you come and live Khiva by train.
About 15 min walk to old town.
Supermarket nearby.
Very clean. We stayed there 2 nights and the room was cleaned during our stay (not so obvious in another hotels).
No problems with early check in, we were offered extra breakfest on the day of our arrival. Buffet breakfast, wide selection of good food.
