Not worth the money
I was in Bigfork running a Spartan race and stayed in the penthouse suite. The photo of Swan River is from my patio but it did not look like the photo. There were chairs/tables/propane tanks/garbage bags all around. To access the suite, it was necessary either haul your luggage/gear through the restaurant and up a steep set of stairs OR up a very narrow, winding spiral staircase then up a steep set of stairs. As you entered the room, it smelled musty and of propane. It was apparent that the floors had not been swept nor the carpets vacuumed. There were numerous cobwebs on the lights and the ceiling of the kitchen (which is probably why I was bitten by a spider on the neck during the night). The entrance to the suite was via a large sliding glass door which was difficult to lock/unlock. Don't use the kitchen unless you plan on cleaning/putting away your dishes or they will charge you an additional $30 (the dishwasher had dirty dishes in it when I arrived which I cleaned so I would not be charged at the end of my trip). Check-in was easy and the employee was nice (but not overly so). I left my key in the drop-box so did not get a copy of my invoice (and still have not received one).
The location was good - looked at Swan River and the Flathead Brewing Company, Big Fork Inn Restaurant and downtown areas were within walking distance.

Dishonest and Disrespectful
I’ve stayed in dozens of hotels across the country and have never experienced something this shady. I booked online and received a confirmation, had everything in place, and was looking forward to a peaceful weekend in Bigfork. But when I arrived at the Swan River Inn, they told me my reservation had been superseded by a walk-in guest. In other words, they gave my confirmed room away to someone else because they payed them more money upfront. I wasn’t late, I wasn’t a no-show. I had proof of my booking. They simply decided someone else was more important….likely because they were willing to pay more.
They do not respect confirmed reservations and will gladly throw you under the bus for a quick buck.

Horrible experience
The place is so disappointing. They double booked our room so offered us a suite. 2 bedrooms two bath. Appears nice until you go into the second bedroom and it is musty and linens damp feeling. Has a mysterious staircase that if you look up the ceiling is caving in and towels on the floor. Lovely tub has no water to it sink in second bathroom doesn’t work. Can’t lock front door we propped it with a chair. Pillows in main bedroom disgusting. When we got to room after play and found these unacceptable issues we could not get anyone from the hotel to answer our call. This is a risk on their part as to not having some sort of emergency call number needless to say irresponsible. Save your money. Book elsewhere. The better business bureau should know of these infractions this hotel presents let alone the health department

Room not cleaned, wish I had read more reviews first
This is a good location, the property itself has promise. The owner should sell it and someone else could take care of it properly.
The room clearly wasn't cleaned at all. The towels were in disarray and obviously dirty, the floor looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in weeks, and the bedspread had concerning stains. I'm pretty sure the sheets hadn't been changed in a while either. Neither the towels nor sheets were white, which is kind of a basic thing in hotels so that you can tell they're clean. We stayed in "Leather and Lace." There were numerous fuzzy pillows which we didn't even want to touch after seeing the state of the rest of the room. There was something dripping down one of the walls, and several of the other walls had random "things" stuck to them. There were long black hairs all over the floor.
The owner was trying to cook, clean, and manage the front desk herself - she just needs to hire more staff.

No TP in rooms
Room has used q tips lying around and didn’t seemed to be cleaned well. Ran out of toilet paper early morning and none in sight. Staff was kind but not a luxury inn. Big fork is a cool spot to stay and nice quiet place.
