Taste the traditional Hungarian cuisine, or chose from a wide range of international gourmet dishes. The Café offers a wide choice of ice cream, fruit plates, home-made desserts, cakes, and a wide variety of coffee and tea. Throughout the year many special occasions provide the opportunity to organize gastronomical events at the Senator Ház, like the Carnival Wine Tasting in February, Easter Ham Parade, May Asparagus Days, Summer Salad Festival, Grape Harvest and St. Martin Day Feasts. A traditional Advent Tent is raised to end the year where home made mulled wine, Christmas punch, baked chestnut and jelly soup are served. Please inform Senator Ház in advance of your expected arrival time. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly with the contact details provided in your confirmation. Guests are required to show a photo identification and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply. Great Central Hotel

Great little hotel. We stay last night after a last minute booking. The staff are multilingual and very clear at communicating and helping with questions. The hotel room areas a good price and felt value for money. The breakfast was included and was tasty. The restaurant at the hotel is great, good menu. Well worth a stay.

Too bad but not recommended.

Although warmly decorated, the rooms – if not the whole hotel – are clearly in need of renovation.
We were there in December, and the restaurant was unpleasantly cold.
The food was disappointing: oversized portions, served unlovingly and of low quality. Less would definitely be more here.
The staff are friendly but can't make up for the overall bad impression.

Bár aranyosan van berendezve, a szobák – ha nem az egész hotel – egyértelműen felújításra szorulnak.
Decemberben voltunk ott, az étteremben, kulönous reggel kellemetlenül hideg volt.
Az étel csalódást keltő:
túl nagy adagok, emiatt nem szép a tálalás és gyenge minőség.
A személyzet kedves, de sajnos ez sem tudja ellensúlyozni az összességében negatív benyomást.

We waited a very long time...

We went on a trip to Eger last Wednesday, and after visiting Eger Castle, we stopped here in the Senator House Bistro for lunch. We arrived before 1 pm and took a seat on the terrace. When the young waiter took our order, I asked how long do we have to wait for lunch, he said about 15 minutes, maximum 20 minutes. Since we ordered ready-made food, this time frame was acceptable. I ordered Spaghetti Bolognese, and "A" Menu, which included Chicken ragout soup, and Salmon Penne, and two soft drinks. After half an hour I told the waiter that, the 10 years old child with me was already very hungry, he promised to tell the kitchen. Another 10 minutes he brought the soup, the another 15 minutes later the main course. The Chicken ragout soup had an average taste, was medium thick, contained thinly sliced carrots, green peas and a few small fingertip-sized pieces of meat, which was not typical of chicken meat, but more like pieces of fish. This can be easily distinguish because they differ significantly in texture and taste. It's likely that the chef or cook didn't distribute the chicken properly, and in the end, there was no chicken left, so he replaced it with pieces of fish. The shef supervises the preparation of dishes, ensuring quality and quantity. The Salmon Penne was a bit tasteless, if they had added pepper and parmesan cheese, the dish would have been tastier. The Spaghetti Bolognese was tasty, made according to a classic recipe. The service was kind and polite, but very slow.

Absolute Charm and Character

Excellent service, warm hospitality, and heritage wrapped inside a historic building dating back to the 18th century. What more can you ask for in an old town known for its charm, character, and history? An absolute delight and one of the best heritage properties we have stayed at on the entire continent.
LOCATION: Fantastic location at the historic Dobo Square with a stone’s throw away from all key points of interest
DINE + DRINK: Very cozy restaurant with an outdoor patio that was great for dinner(with authentic local cuisine) and a sumptuous breakfast
ROOM: We stayed in Room 23, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Lovely view of the historic city square and the Cathedral at a distance; SIZE: Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: DOVE branded body wash.
FACILITIES: No Gym or pool on site
SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. Special Shout out to LAVENTE at the front desk and ZOLI at the restaurant who took care of us like family!
HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Medium-speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Good sized Plasma TV screen dishing out a wide variety of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies, and entertainment in multiple languages

Great location and very friendly staff

The hotel is located in the center of the city, right under the castle wall. In fact, the parking lot is at the castle wall. It is a short walk away. The staff was extremely helpful and very nice to deal with. The restaurant is one of the best in the city. Our room was in a separate building and was very quite and nice.
