I was disappointed by dinner. The waitress gave us some incorrect information about nibbles (the peppers were not padron), the bottled water was overpriced and the food was good but not special. Overall I’d still recommend as an enjoyable experience.

Disappointing afternoon tea
For somewhere with such a beautiful setting and reputation, I expected much better. Sadly, it didn’t feel like the special birthday experience we had hoped for.

Poor afternoon tea
We initially had pots of tea but when we were asked if we wanted more tea we asked if we coukd have coffee which subsequently arrived. The coffee was not good and my friends and I were unable to drink it.
When it came to the bill it appears that they charge extra for any further or coffee (£17) that is ordered which was not explained to us. I cannot recall ever being charged forca second hot drink at any other afternoon tea i have had.When we queried this charge and the quality of the coffee the person who served us was not interested and responded saying that he did not make the coffee!!!!
The overall experience was not good and not what i was expecting. The tea was overpriced and the person who gave us our bill needs to go on a customer service course.

A Mixed Stay
At 3 pm we were informed our room was still not ready(!) and so we brought in our luggage and waited. Why not clean and prepare our room earlier in order to be ready at 3 pm?
Our room was a State Deluxe and on their website (told was out of date) I was promised a welcome drink flapjacks bathrobe and slippers. Shampoo/conditioner bath/shower gel body lotion and shower cap. The only items were tiny shower gel shampoo & conditioner. The bathroom was lovely and large with a good shower as it was hot the lukewarm water was fine.
The disappointment for a 4 star hotel was the sofa , chair and some small cushions did not look clean and definitely need recovering. There was a small folded scruffy table in front of the armchair but no desk as shown in the photo of the room online.
We had one cream tea later but on check out was surprised the pot of tea was not included in the cream TEA - we expected to pay for the coffee! Breakfast was fine but again surprised that if I wanted a cappuccino I would have to pay extra.
These might seem petty, but it is the little things that one notes. Having stayed in many country house hotels also classed as 4 star, you get used to a shower cap body lotion slippers and furniture in a bedroom you would be happy to sit on!
With a little bit more care and attention Llangoed Hall could be up there with those country house hotels like The Pig or The Painswick for example.

I'm sorry the room wasn't quite ready for our usual check-in time of 3pm. From memory, I think it was about fifteen minutes late. The hotel was full the night before and in this heat the housekeepers really do struggle with such a strenuous role to get all the rooms turned round in time.
If I could clarify though, you booked a deluxe room. This does not include the flapjacks, robe and slippers you anticipated. The Junior & Master suites do...I distinctly remember offering you robes which you declined due to the current temperatures anyway.
I am sorry the furniture was slightly worn though. We are in the process of deep-cleaning and recovering stained pieces but it is a busy time of year so this isn't an easy task.

Disappointing
Beautiful location with spectacular views
The house was very inviting lovely and clean The afternoon tea ..What a disappointment we went as 4 friends celebrating a 60th birthday we had pots of tea on arrival and was offered Prosecco which we declined
We then had 2 cakes stands one between 2 which consisted of 7 assorted finger sandwiches which were nice ..no other savoury option
Then there were 3 very small danish pastries ( each ) and 2 small dry plain scones with cream and very cheap jam
We asked for coffees which we thought would be included in the price which it wasn’t and was charged £17 ? For 4 coffees which we couldn’t drink as it was very strong
When we came to pay the bill and informed the staff member of our concerns he made a flippant comment of “well I didn’t serve you “
We have attended many venues for afternoon tea and this was very very disappointing we would not return
