Wonderful stay. The building is lovely and has the perfect, Scottish Country Estate feel. The bar is cozy, the breakfast delicious and all the staff are warm and welcoming. The location is very walkable from downtown Edinburgh - about 20 minutes or a quick, inexpensive Uber ride if the weather breaks. We would absolutely stay again.

Just ok.

We stayed one night at the Scott Hotel, Edinburgh basically because it had Parking.
The Hotel is a beautiful building and decorated well keeping a lot of the character. Our room was two floors up but be aware there’s no lift, so if you can’t do stairs keep this in mind when booking and request a ground floor room.
The bar is tiny, the photos online make it look much bigger but it’s nice and the bar staff were friendly.
We dined in Bonnar’s Restaurant for dinner. It’s beautifully decorated but that’s about if for us.
Food wasn’t great and not the warmest, service slow even though it was empty. Overpriced for what we had. I would stay in the Hotel again but not dine in it.
Breakfast was fine until the waitress forgot to place aur order after us waiting over half an hour before she realised.

Nice but....

The hotel is cute, the staff was friendly. Loved the heated floor in our bathroom! Breakfast was good with large portions. Only downfall is if you have sensitivity to fragrance's (asthma for me) this hotel has scented smell through out the first floor and we were unable to eat but once (you can smell the scent everywhere and see it clearly on the mantle and book shelf etc.)

Breakfast was fresh and delicious though the buffet was rather limited.
The hotel is a beautiful old building and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
We stayed in room 37, which along with room 36 is 4 flights up with no lift so not suitable for everyone. The staff did help us with our luggage.
Additionally the ceilings in our room are such that the bathroom mirror was exceedingly low. You’ll have to bend over to see yourself and do the tasks for which you need a mirror.
Finally the location is about 25-30 walk to the Royal Mile/castle area with several good restaurants about a 10 minute walk away.
All in all a nice hotel but for the aforementioned reasons 4 stars is as far as I’ll go.

It was a very clean and cozy room. The breakfast selection was very good. I only missed fresh fruit (salad), yoghurt and/or muesli. The bar selection is very nice.
