Hidden gem

I never read reviews when I book anywhere and generally go off the booking.com rating. And I'm glad I did.
These rooms, all with their own theme, are lovely. We booked the room with the bath tub and had no issues at all. When we arrived we were greeted in the bar by a nice lad who took our cases up to the room for us.
We had an issue in the morning with cold water in the shower, but the manager quickly fixed that for us.
Location is great to wander into town.
Although they are room only and no food is served, they have a gorgeous bar and terrace with some brilliant cocktails.
We got speaking to the manager who is the owners son. Their family have only recently taken this place over so it can only be expected to have one or two wee teething problems. And the only problem we had was fixed instantly.
I like my quirky boujie hotels and this one was right up my street. Will definitely be back.

Absolutely shocking.

Checked in on Saturday 18th at 2pm and the place was deserted. I had to wander through the bar, restaurant and up the stairs to find a member of staff to check me in.
Turns out the cleaner never appeared for their shift so the staff member from bar was left to clean all the rooms herself while checking people in and serving at the bar.
Shocking experience, room was dirty, there were dead spiders attached to the curtains, an old bar of soap left in the shower, spiders in the corners of the bathroom and wandering round the bedroom and a tea tray with 2 tea bags, 3 out of date UHT milks and some sugar.
Would not recommend, I have emailed a formal complaint to the hotel and am waiting for a reply.

Nightmare experience

Do not stay here. Upon arrival there were no staff, it was deserted. After around 10 minutes a girl appeared stating the cleaner had rang in sick and so she was left to do everything. Finally got to the room I had paid £156 for, which does not include breakfast. Filthy, disgusting and beyond shabby, The mattress was covered with a multitude of indescribable stains and there was no mattress topper to attempt to hide these. The room generally was filthy. Words fail me. I intend to write to the management group for a refund because the room was awful.
