Acceptable.

I love trying out different hotels. I visit Belgrade several times a year (check out my reviews below), and this time I chose the Centar.
Yes. The Hotel Centar No. 1 isn’t bad. Its location is excellent—right in the heart of the city. Of course, there’s free Wi-Fi, a fully stocked minibar, and everything is clean and tidy. I really did like it. The staff are friendly and helpful, and they do their best to make your stay better. But I probably won’t stay there again, and here’s why.
The first thing that caused me a lot of inconvenience was the lack of a bottle of water in the room (or a water cooler in the corridor, like at the neighboring Marriott). I was too tired to go out and buy water, so I drank some tap water and decided to boil some for the morning. Never do that at this hotel! When I drank the water from the kettle in the morning, it was poisoned—it smelled like awful plastic and tasted bitter. That stench lingered in my mouth and nose for a long time. I can only imagine what my wife would have said after drinking fresh coffee from that cheap kettle. Later, at the front desk, they told me that the water in Belgrade is clean and safe to drink straight from the tap. Okay, but could you at least put up a sign or something!
Then it turned out that their lounge bar was closed, so there was nowhere to have a whiskey in the evening.
It came as a big surprise (and not just to me, as I understand it) when, going down for breakfast, I found no food on the buffet. An employee handed me the menu, I made my choice, and everything was fine, okay. But this is very strange for a 4-star hotel—when on a given day they don’t have enough guests who’ve paid for breakfast, the buffet turns into a dining room where you order a few items from a limited menu.
I always travel with my own toothbrush and toothpaste. And this time, that was the right decision. In practically all modern hotels, guests can use these amenities provided by the hotel. But not at Centar No. 1.
Overall, it’s a standard hotel without any special frills or highlights. But there’s one catch—it’s only slightly cheaper than the Marriott next door. So, guys, either you cut your prices by half, despite the financial difficulties you obviously face, or I’ll advise tourists to pay a little extra and stay at the Marriott.

Housekeeping did not leave shampoo or toilet paper. When we called the front desk to get some nothing ever happened. Very indifferent service

Amazing stay at Centar No. 1 in Belgrade!

This is an absolutely beautiful hotel and we had a great stay. They have renovated this historic building so nicely, it's hard to describe all the luxury details in each room, and the corridors and lobby. The location is maybe the best in Belgrade right across and with great views of Republic Square. It is minutes walk to the Fortress, main shopping areas, and also to the historic Skadarlija district for nice walks and dinners out. This is my second stay at this Hotel and I will always chose it when I come to Belgrade.

A Façade

Don't let the beautiful façade fool you. For a four stars hotel the amenities are limited ( no bottled water when you arrive, one small packet of Nescafé for 4 days , no housekeeping unless you ask several times at the front desk...) . Also the rooms are small ( no space for an armchair) and the cupboards smell.
This said, the location is perfect and their breakfast buffet is excellent if you pick that option.
