Oldest hotel in Ziguinchor.

The hotel Aubert is said to be the oldest in town. It dates from the period when travelling took time and travelers needed more than just a standardized bed and 150 TV channels to feel at home. The room I had was big, clean, Spartan, tiled floors, good bed, huge bathroom, a safe and a fridge. It had a mosquito net, AC, but lacked a ceiling fan. The windows were shaded and the room cool.
Breakfast was basic, omelette, bread, jam and coffee, but dinner was fine.
The staff was helpful and polite, service good, the hotel is centrally located, an easy walk from the ferry.
A very good option in Ziguinchor.

Slightly Overpriced

I stayed here because I had to. It was the only hotel with a free bedroom the day I arribed in Ziguinchor. I paid around 40 Euros which I found it a bit over the reasonable considering the state of the hotel and the room. This said, there were all the expected amenities: AC, hot running water, a good bed, Wi Fi, .
However, for that price I would expect a working TV and a generator able to prevent the power cuts every 30 minutes.
The food at the restaurant was outstanding. Staff was OK and the reception manager could speak good English.

Friendly Service and good food!

We stayed in an apartment near the Hotel Aubert so we went to this hotel to swim and eat in their restaurant. The people are really friendly who work there and the grilled chicken and Aubert salad with avocado were really good! If you want to swim, but you're not staying there, just eat at the restaurant first and come ready to swim and just ask to hang out after and swim and have a few drinks!

Lovely pool

I enjoyed floating in the empty pool watching the cranes, egrets and pelicans flying overhead to roost in nearby trees. Rooms were clean, spacious but no frills. The food was very bad at lunch, my family unable to finish their meal, but I had a passable prawn sandwich in the evening. Breakfast was not good at all. I would have appreciated some sugar free juice, hot water for tea, not tepid, and fresher fruit, jam and bread; it all looked very unappetising.
I would stay here again, especially as the staff were friendly, but I'd be very wary of the food.

Restaurant Only Review

We did not stay in the Aubert, only ate in the restaurant. So far, by far, the worst food experience we've had in Senegal. The service was friendly but incompetent and worst of all the food was bad. The final straw happened in the 15 minutes we waited for the woman to get around to figuring our bill: a cockroach appeared and began exploring our table. In forty years of traveling around the world, this is only the second roach to appear on my table in a restaurant. Don't know what the hotel is like, but if you find yourself staying here, do yourself a favor and go down the street to the Hotel Kadiandoumagne to eat.
