Where to start? The view across the lake was a wonderful. And the staff! They were amazing and so friendly and helpful. They took the time to provide little extras at breakfast or helping to suggest local activities. Next the breakfast was wonderful too. Fresh cheezes, bread, eggs, well seasoned bacon, fresh fruits and pastries made for a scrumptious meal. The pool though small, had an amazing feature that I wasn't expecting; hydro foot massage! After a long day hiking my feet were completely restored. Then I hung out in the spa for a while. The spa was time well spent. The surrounding town of Weggis was quiet and totally Swiss. And the staff (Victor) was happy to take us via a courtesy shuttle to and from the local boat station. He, like all the others bend over backwards to be helpful and kind. Oh...and in the evenings there was life piano music down in the restaurant. All around a great experience that I would do all over again next year. Stay here, you'll love it!

Most regrettable mistake
The most regrettable mistake I’ve ever made in my years of travel and paid $877 USD for two days for it. I will lay out facts, pictures and receipts for anyone reading to decide if this is a 4 star hotel worth the price. We stayed here for two nights, 3/21-3/23 2026.
1. There is major construction right in front of the hotel. I did not know that at time of booking. Found out when I was checking in. Learned that their website had a pop-up window saying there is construction and offering a discount, in German, and German only. Once you change the language of the website to English, the pop-up does not re-appear. After a few tries my husband eventually got an English version to pop up. Ok, my bad. Nowhere in the booking workflow, or the confirmation email does it mention this construction or the discount the hotel claimed is automatically applied. My confirmation email attached as picture.
2. It’s interesting that no other reviews here or on TripAdvisor mention such construction. Only on platforms like booking.com which have stronger guardrails of review manipulation that mention it. The hotel website and response to review claimed “by March 2026 there will be no construction noise”. And that the discount applied was not visible to the guest bcus they booked via booking.com. I booked via the hotel website. I also did not see anything mentioning a discount. At check out the front desk told me the discount was applied bcus the regular rate was over $400+. I’ve attached pictures of the actual construction site. You can decide if the construction looks close to be done with noises, or if the hotel disclosed sufficiently the potential impact to your stay. They are building an entire apartment complex.
3. This claims to be a 4 star wellness hotel, out of respect for the no camera policy in the spa, I did not take pictures. The facilities remind me of a community gym or a chain hotel on the side of a highway. There are no slippers provided, you have to pay for them. the desk at the spa is not staffed. We had to call the front desk for someone to come down and give us a locker key, towels and robes. The pools would have a very nice view if not for the construction, the sauna and steam rooms could be nice, but clearly not well cleaned or maintained. I had a manicure, performed at a single desk in the hallway, right by where fire extinguisher and other equipments are stored.
3. I attached some pictures of the furniture in the room. The room had so many issues my husband and I just had to laugh about it. There are only two pillows, you have to request for more. We were supposed to have two spa bags with robes and towels, nowhere to be found. There are no glassware of mugs, only two champagne glasses and two tall glasses, or paper cups in the communal coffee area at each floor. The bathroom did not have shower gel or conditioner, I had to request it. The feedback forms with the previous guests’ full names on them were left in the room.
You can decide if this is a 4 star experience.
I won’t make comments about the service. Although not every interaction was pleasant, the staff is clearly hard working and doing the best they can to help whenever asked. I will also say there were plenty of people over the weekend who appeared to have enjoyed themselves there. Most appear to be locals.
I hope this review does not disappear. And you can see what you will be getting should you choose to stay at this hotel.

Rooms & Cleanliness: The errors in the provision of your room and the blunder with the old feedback forms are absolutely unacceptable.
We are conducting a thorough internal review to prevent such negligence in future.

Great location by the lake, excellent food including breakfast.
The hotel has a great location, and if you book a room with a lake view, it is even more beautiful.
The rooms are practically furnished. I got an older one, while my colleagues got a partially newly renovated room.
There is a good wellness area, also with an outdoor pool including loungers.
Furthermore, you can go directly swimming in the lake. There are free SUPs, etc.
The food is really very good!
The service could be a bit better.
All employees are very friendly, but some do not understand/speak German or English.
The house also misses out on some additional sales; we would have liked to consume more, but no one was there to ask us.
The breakfast buffet is great and leaves nothing to be desired, truly excellent!
I only slept with the balcony door open because it was too warm.
There is neither air conditioning nor any other device for cooling down.
The bed was much too hard for me. I thought it was sagging (old mattress) and you can feel the wooden base. My colleagues in the renovated rooms had the same problem, however. So it is probably the type of bed.
(that's why I wouldn't come back, because I can't find restful sleep)
If you do not have sleep problems with hard beds, the hotel is absolutely recommendable. Thank you very much!

Auch das Frühstücksbuffet und das Essen kamen bei Ihnen richtig gut an, dieses Kompliment geben wir sehr gerne an unsere Küche weiter.
Die noch nicht renovierten Zimmer werden zeitnah saniert. Vor allem die Badezimmer sind bald alle auf dem neusten Stand.
Eine Klimaanlage haben wir aktuell leider noch nicht. Mit unserer neuen Seewasserpumpe, die ab 2028 mit Fertigstellung des Neubaus in Betrieb geht, können wir die Raumtemperatur künftig besser regulieren. Bis dahin darf jederzeit gerne ein Ventilator an der Reception angefragt werden.
Zu den Matratzen: Es sind spezielle Naturmatratzen, die eigentlich sehr bequem sein sollten. Da aber jeder Gast andere Vorlieben hat, empfinden manche sie als etwas härter. Falls dies der Fall ist, kann jederzeit ein Topper an der Reception verlangt werden, das machen wir sehr gerne.
Ihre Rückmeldung zum Service nehmen wir uns ebenfalls sehr zu Herzen und sprechen dies intern an. Das entspricht nicht unseren Standards, und dafür möchten wir uns entschuldigen.

the best spa hotel with an incredible view
My husband and I have been our favorite spa hotel for many years. We've stayed at many different hotels, but none surpasses the Alexander Weggis. The caring staff, the wonderful spa, and the delicious cuisine leave only the most pleasant impressions! And the view from the front window is simply breathtaking, with views of the mountains and the lake. The menu also features local fish, which is delicious! We highly recommend it

We are planning a repeat of our unforgettable trip. A heartfelt thank you to the team at Hotel Alexander.
We - three friends - checked into Hotel Alexander and felt very welcomed from the first moment. The friendliness of the staff at the reception as well as in the restaurant was amazing, and the service was absolutely superb. While organizing our planned excursions, we received full support, and with the Lucerne Travel Pass, we were very well advised and served. The breakfast was first-class. The view from the pool or the balcony of the Alps is breathtaking.
