Insufficient price/performance ratio

I ordered a mixed salad and an Alpine tea. The waiter strongly recommended the celery salad. This one is very good. I let myself be persuaded and decided on the celery salad, my wife took the mixed salad. The celery salad was decorated with two thin strips of crispbread and some apple carvings preserved in vinegar, which were too salty and did not taste particularly good. The mixed salad consisted of green leaves and gathered carrots and sliced cabbage. The carrots and cabbage must have come from the jar. Freshly prepared would certainly have been better. Together with the two Alpine teas, this cost 51 CHF to our amazement. The waiter said it was just a big celery salad. In fact, it was smaller than the mixed salad. I can therefore recommend neither the salads nor the waiter.
N.B. At the next table, a guest ordered a hamburger with salad garnish. When he asked the waitress if there wasn't a salad, she pointed to the salad leaf in the burger.

7.- for tap water!! :(

It is shameful that money is demanded for tap water in Switzerland! Maybe a small lump sum would be ok, but charging CHF 7.- for 1 litre of tap water is a cheek. I ask the owners of the restaurant to reconsider this practice.
Otherwise we were satisfied with the food and service. The terrace offers a beautiful view of the lake.

Average, would not eat there again.

The food was OK, but far from special or exceptional. Prices are OK, but the drinks are too expensive (3dl Coke €5).
No children's menus! Unbelievable that this still exists!
Ordered at 12pm on a normal weekday and had to wait an hour for the food!
Unfortunately, I have to report that one of the two service staff had no idea about service!
We do not recommend the restaurant!

Miserable dinner

We had dinner there. The quality of the fish and pasta dishes is that of a bad fast food restaurant, and the fish in beer batter is very reminiscent of Igloo fish fingers, but with much less fish and a soggy, fatty crust - but the prices are again on the level of a 4-5 star restaurant. Simply outrageous.

Good experiences , some issues

We had a nice room , in good condition , with views over the beautiful lake Brienz . Staff were friendly , also bruno the boss , and there was even help with luggage and transport to/from the station . Breakfast was not included but as it was a cafe/tea room we expected breakfast there . This was not possible on Tuesday morning and finding somewhere open was tough . There was road noise as the hotel is sandwiched between the main road through Brienz and the lake . For dinner we wanted to use local restaurants but Walz closed their kitchen around 5.0 ( closed completely Mon / Tues ) and other nearby restaurants were either closed or the kitchen closed very early. No lift so with 2 flights of stairs to the bedroom not suitable for limited mobility guests.
