Amazing experience
I did really enjoy my stay at Sohar beach hotel, very good services and welcoming staff especially Bernard, he was amazing, passionate to help to make guests feel comfortable while staying at the hotel.

Good Customer Service but Noisy and Outdated Rooms
The hotel looks big and impressive from the outside, with a beautiful beachfront location. The staff are genuinely kind and helpful, especially the restaurant staff during breakfast and the porters who handled my luggage.
However, my stay was negatively affected by several issues. I couldn’t sleep at night due to constant disturbance noises; it reached a point where I thought someone was in my room. As soon as I started to fall asleep, I’d hear knocking or other sounds and wake up again.
The bathroom’s pink color is unpleasant, and cleanliness could be improved—one of the towels provided was not properly cleaned. The TV in my room didn’t work, which made it harder to pass the time at night when I couldn’t sleep. The room overall feels old and dated.
While the service is excellent and the exterior is impressive, the interior facilities and noise issues need urgent attention.

What a desolation!
So how can we express our dismay? Despite the tremendous potential of this establishment, building architecture reminiscent of Omani forts, a large swimming pool, waterfront with the beach, spacious rooms and very good food, the hotel seems abandoned. We had to be 3 couples present in such a vast space. More lawns, trees around the pool than gravel, concrete and weeds, dirty deckchairs, the edges of the pool smudged with gull droppings present in large numbers. The photo we see on the site must be a long time ago. All that remains is the dried-out palm tree on the right. “As for the SPA in front of the reception, it left us with a funny impression. We didn’t set foot there.

Affortable but not worth it!
We choose this hotel for location and affortable rate. On arrival we got room settled down and un packed luggages. Then it started, i was in shower but found that showergel dispenser was empty. I ran wet to telephone to learn that phone was not working at all. Ok shower was done and i learned there is only one tower so my partner had to use same one (no handtowels in this hotel!). I jumped to bed and turned tv on.... does not work. We ran to reception to inform all that and duty manager came up. Finally 1 channel was discovered (qatar!) and rest did not have signal! In that stage i was pretty pissed off ( at 22.30) and dutymanager asked if he can do anything. i told pls bring us atleadt some sandwich (as curtesy) of bad start to our stay. Sandwiches came but after 2 day while check out they asked to pay for those. No No No - not good

A lot could be made of it...
The hotel was built with the best intentions in bright white, the traditional architecture resembles the fort, which is a few hundred meters away. The entree is impressive at first, with a large parking lot and extensive grounds. Apparently abandoned outbuildings frame a large, pleasantly tempered and clean pool that could be inviting if you didn't get the impression of entering a ghost place. The photos from the years around 2018 have at most a distant resemblance to reality, there are no deckchairs to linger on, the planting is rudimentary, the bar orphaned. You have access to the beach, but even it offers no comfort whatsoever.
The tennis court is out of order.
The rooms: they are spacious and offer basically contemporary comfort with kettle, large TV, good beds and functionally furnished bathrooms. The furniture looks a bit old. It may be because of Ramadan that we were at best a handful of guests in the end. The room was not cleaned on the first day of Ramadan, but perhaps it had not spread that we wanted to hang on for another day because we had enjoyed the bath in the sea very much. Even in the days before, the cleaning had only been done in the late afternoon.
The dinner (we took it on the first day) we found appealing in terms of quality and presentation, the service both at breakfast and in the evening extraordinarily friendly and helpful. The selection for breakfast is manageable, but if something was missing, we could reorder.
Our reasons to stay 5 nights despite some adversity: we got a balcony room after tough resistance of the reception at an extra cost. On the balcony overlooking the sea you can stay well, whoever is considering this hotel should ask directly for it. Beach hotels are still scarce in Oman despite busy construction.
