Great restaurant!

If we are going over Haukelifjell and do not want to drive all the way in a day, we always stay at the Vågslidtun hotel. The hotel has a perfect standard, but what has been crucial for us is the fantastic food at the restaurant. It surpasses all similar places I've visited. Great menu with both mountain fish, algae and reindeer.
You can get an aperitif in the form of sparkling and delicious wines. This year the food was fantastic both in taste and presentation. So my advice to the management is to keep the chef who was at work Friday 27/6 as long as possible. Gourmet class was it!

The room was okay and felt clean. The bathroom got completely wet when using the shower so would be nice to have a better solution for that. The food was quite average and some of the breakfast looked expired. Staff was friendly and the environment was beautiful. Okay for one night stay!

Impersonal and boring

My husband and I stayed here one night during a drive through Norway. The hotel is nothing special. Impersonal feeling, pretty boring room, breakfast that lacked that little extra. The hotel had a bit of a depressing feeling about it. The room was quiet, which was nice, but we're still not coming back. The dinner served was also extremely expensive, go to Family House Haukeli 10-12 min away instead.

Bad experience

The hotel offers spectacular mountain views, but it helps little when man gets unpretentious staff on the purchase. Even though a man pays too much. Should I have a coffee and enjoy the view, then I was clearly informed that I could not just have coffee. It was just to pay get himself, 55 kroner cost it. I jerk with a feeling of being monitored, who worked there had unpleasant energy. Have never complained about a hotel experience before, but here it is in mind place. The room was not washed and we did not get stuffed with towel.

Very disappointing stay – strong sewage smell and poor overall standard

We stayed one night at Vågslidtun Hotel at Haukelifjell and checked in late Saturday evening, around 10 PM. When we entered the room, we were immediately met by a strong sewage/bad smell. The smell was so unpleasant that we had to sleep with the terrace door open all night.
The hotel generally appears to be of an older standard and shows clear signs of lacking maintenance and proper cleaning. The room did not feel clean or well looked after, which made the overall experience even worse.
Breakfast was also disappointing. The cold cuts and other breakfast items seemed old and of poor quality, and the breakfast did not meet the standard one would expect from a hotel stay.
When checking out the next day, I brought these issues up with the owner and asked for a refund or some form of compensation. The response I received was that we had had two beers in the bar the night before that had not been paid for, and that this should be considered “good enough” as compensation.
For almost NOK 2,000, I expect a clean room without bad smells, decent breakfast quality, and a much more professional way of handling complaints from guests.
This was a very disappointing experience, and we will not be staying here again.
