Great Night at Hotel Horsepower Ranch!

We were welcomed warmly and found the hospitality at Hotel Horsepower Ranch to be very friendly... we felt we were treated almost as family. This is a slightly out-of-the-way location, but really is surprisingly close to Ensenada. The hotel is in a beautiful valley setting and is extremely quiet. The rooms are "ranch cozy" - beds were quite comfortable, and the bathroom was large and nicely equipped with a lovely tile shower and a large sink. It is motel-style, with parking directly outside your room, and is pet-friendly. I would absolutely recommend Hotel Horsepower Ranch to anyone who needs a place to stay in or near Ensenada. Dinner and breakfast were both included, and both were very good down-home cooking! Considering the meals were included (including drinks!), this is a very reasonably priced place to stay!! There is another listing here on TripAdvisor for them just as "Horsepower Ranch" and I will leave another review there focusing with more detail on the food.

First stop of an 8-day Baja dirt bike trip

My son and I stayed at Horsepower Ranch our first night in Baja and it was our best lodging. The place is steeped in Baja racing history and, if you can pin down Rodrigo for a bit, he'll fill it in with quite a bit of color. Plus he'll give advice on good places the ride. The food was great and the rooms were super.

Trail of Missions 2015

This was our first stop on our off road truck trip called Trail of Missions. It was unfortunate that there was a forest or desert fire that had started when we arrived so there was a lot of smoke in the air. The place has a great vintage feel when you pull into the property. There is a pool, outdoor dining area and bar. The best rooms are located around the circle. Of course my guest were in those. We as crew were in the rooms that sit farther out and above the circle. These are a little rough with no a/c. They were clean but the holes in the screens made you wonder what could crawl in. You had to share the bathroom with the next room which was fine if the toilet chain didn't keep breaking and if there was hot water. What made up for it was the staff. They were amazing and very accomodating for our group. They set up a bar at the pool and a wonderful meal they served outside to us. Inside is the most amazing lounge with big beefy furniture and a stone fireplace. The bar area is great too. It's a huge wood bar that matches the lounge area. Over all the staff was great and gave me a wonderful tour of the property. They were helpful with anything I had asked for. But a huge fyi...the whole place runs on a generator which turns off every night at 11ish and turns back on early in the morning. So make sure to plug in your phone to charge right when you get there. There isn't much service so you won't be using it anyways.
