A beautiful suite; some improvements to be expected at breakfast.
Blending into an old bourgeois villa from the beginning of the 20th century with a pink facade and white moldings, the Liberty is a spa hotel that, surprisingly, only has three stars. Nevertheless, in some respects, I understand this.
My wife and I celebrated our tin wedding anniversary there during a weekend in Como. Located about a twenty-minute walk from the city center, passing by the promenade offering a stroll along the famous lake and dotted with magnificent villas, it avoids taking the vehicle for every outing.
You must not be caught off guard when you arrive and must not miss the sliding gate. An ascent allows access to the reception and I advise booking one of the parking spaces, even if it costs 15 euros per day. I had booked everything via the website and everything was done with total simplicity.
Check-in is from 2:30 PM (check-out at 10:30 AM), a very pleasant schedule because it is not necessary to wait until the end of the afternoon to enjoy your room. We arrived at 1:00 PM and our room was even already ready. We were welcomed with a lot of good humor and the young staff member accompanied us to our room. A room I am going to talk about.
1- Suite 24
In Como, you might as well ensure your comfort and choose a very beautiful room. Ours had a fairly large private balcony, but we did not fully enjoy it due to the ambient heat during our stay. Each room provides access to the rooftop, which allows you to enjoy a view of the lake. A very pleasant place once night has fallen or during sunset.
The room is modern and has a unique layout. Indeed, the white four-poster bed is placed in the middle of the room. In front, there is a desk with a hospitality tray and a TV above it. To the right, a huge walk-in closet allows you to store the equivalent of two large suitcases. You will find a safe and a fridge there. Upon our arrival, a small bowl of corn chips and a half bottle of Prosecco were waiting for us. A very appreciated gesture.
To the left of the entrance door, the room continues into a space that allows for storing suitcases and leads to the large bathroom that opens onto the back garden. The bathroom is modern, spacious, and has every comfort: a large shower stall with a tiled niche in the wall to store products; wall-hung toilet, bidet (even if in 2026 its usefulness remains very questionable), large vanity with a backlit mirror above it, towel warmer, fluffy white linens, wood-look tile floor, walls partially tiled with gray slabs for a chic touch, not to mention the toiletries replaced every day.
The room's decor is simple. A white armchair, a fairly stylish transparent plastic chair, two black iron nightstands, and modern translucent bedside lamps. While the chair echoes the bedside lamps, the black iron-framed nightstands echo the bench located at the end of the hallway. There is a consistency in the decor. The paintings hanging on the walls are all in the same style, a mix of concrete and abstract art featuring silhouettes sometimes in the heart of a still life. Finally, I do not forget the mirror hanging on one of the walls near the entrance.
The relatively blackout curtains (I recommend a sleep mask) recall the color of the floor, which is the same everywhere: wood-look tile.
The room is bright, featuring large, period-style rounded windows. The air conditioning is incredibly effective and very easy to adjust. The bedding is comfortable and the hotel is quiet. You can sometimes hear a little traffic, but nothing bothersome. What is a bit more annoying is the total absence of an electrical outlet near the bed. In fact, to be able to plug in an e-reader or a phone, you have to unplug the bedside lamp.
2- Breakfast
This is a moment that I particularly value when I am traveling. A quality breakfast is a testament to the attention a hotel pays to its guests. It is the guarantee of a successful start to the day.
Breakfast is served from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM and is taken in the former winter lounge, a room that exudes a blend of tradition and modernity. Construction elements have been preserved, allowing the architectural history of the establishment to remain in the spotlight. Each room has an assigned table. Ours was located near the bay window.
The buffet is very beautiful and varied. It includes everything one might expect. As for drinks, a machine dispenses all kinds of coffees and derivatives, hot water, and hot chocolate. In terms of tea, I was very disappointed because the Lipton brand is offered (both at breakfast and on the courtesy tray). In my opinion, it is the worst tea brand in the world. Admittedly, we are not in a four-star hotel, but still. The elegance of the place would have everything to gain with a different tea. Fruit juices (orange, green apple, red berries) are offered. Unless I am mistaken, I even have the impression that one can enjoy a glass of champagne because I saw a bucket with a bottle every morning.
On the buffet, you can find cold cuts, cheese, dairy milk, plant-based milk, cereals, an abundance of fresh fruit (plums, apricots, melon, watermelon, grapes...), dried fruit, homemade cakes, Italian dry biscuits, vegetables, hard-boiled eggs, cow or sheep milk yogurt, mini pastries (raisin rolls, croissants filled with pistachio, cream, or Nutella), and peach jam (a little variety wouldn't hurt)...
I regretted that the pastries were industrial. Even in a three-star hotel, you can find fresh pastries, especially in Italy. On the other hand, I loved the made-to-order scrambled eggs.
3- The spa
We booked the spa for one hour, at a price of 70 euros for two people. I recommend this experience. The spa features a hot tub heated to 35 degrees, a steam room, a sauna, a cold shower at 10 degrees, and a mint-scented sensory shower. The lighting is intelligently dimmed, and the hotel has the good idea of preparing a tray of fresh fruit, fruit juice, and tea for the users. With discreet music playing that you can even hear in the steam room or the sauna, a relaxing atmosphere is guaranteed.
4- The team
I would like to highlight here the professionalism, kindness, and great availability of each of the people who work at the Liberty. Whether at the front desk, at breakfast, or at the spa, everything is done to satisfy the guest. The person who welcomed us even offered to mark the various parking lots and a few restaurants on a city map. There is a certain anticipation of what the guests want. Add to that the fact that the team is proficient in English, so it is possible to converse without difficulty even if you do not speak Italian.
In summary, the hotel itself has a perfect location in my opinion. The room was flawlessly comfortable, and multiple thoughtful touches helped enhance the stay. The rates go hand in hand with its comfort, let's not hide that. On the other hand, the breakfast should be upgraded. Fresh mini pastries and better quality tea would be welcome.
Regardless, our stay was a success and we have excellent memories of our visit.

Everything in the reservation was as promised. Great views and clean rooms and surrounding!
An owner run boutique villa. A very delightfully bright and well maintained property, kept sanitized & clean. A perfect getaway for couples and families. Elizabeth the owner is very hands on and courteous and cheerful hostess!

Very nice clean place, the room was spacious and everyone was great and friendly. The location is great if you don’t mind to walk a bit (20-30 minutes at a leisure pace) to the center and the ferry.
If you like to workout at random time like myself; just be aware that the gym and reception close at 7pm

Stylish boutique hotel short walk to the lake
A very well kept, stylish, contemporary interior. Our room was spacious and had a terrace, which we sat out in the early evening. It was a short walk to the lake. I did struggle, however to walk back up the hill to the hotel, although it was a relatively short distance.
The receptionist was excellent, came out of welcome us on arrival and supplied all the information about the hotel we needed.
The breakfast area was a little small but the breakfast was very good, with an amazing selection of fresh fruit.

Best place in Lake Como. Desh and Alicia were great and the owner Elizabeth was so nice and generous. Gave us a ride to our destination in her own car and also helped us with the luggage transportation at no charge. I would recommend this place to anyone.
