Another world close to home....
We greatly appreciated our little stay at the mill of the pipe. The place is
magical, all the staff are attentive, smiling, happy to be
there. The cuisine is excellent, inventive! The terrace where meals are served, by the river, is infused with the surrounding nature, it is relaxing! Birds, trout in the Gervanne, a river with crystal-clear waters!

A drink on a shaded terrace...
After a hike in the area, we stopped at the inn to have a refreshment on the shaded terrace.
I had heard negative feedback from acquaintances, but I would like to clarify that we were well received by attentive staff, that our orders were brought quickly, and that both the staff and management are attentive to customers.

Avoid
Seemingly run by some sort of tattooed hippy commune, with service levels to match. Dreadful room which was tired, faded and hot. No coffee at the end of our evening meal…. ‘Machine closed’ apparently. No breakfast as other guests took everything in huge quantities- not the hotels fault, but they could try providing more.

Friendly, relaxed, rustic hotel in a beautiful woodland setting
The Moulin is situated in a stunning location in a beautiful region of France amidst gorges, woodland and streams - as well as lots of different kinds of butterfly. It is perfect if you want to hike, cycle or simply relax. The staff were all very friendly and several speak English. We had a fairly spacious room - quite simple, but bright and pleasantly furnished. We enjoyed eating at the relaxed and informal terrace restaurant - there is a short, simple menu which focuses on tasty local produce such as trout. The rustic breakfast room was very attractive, and having the bar on site helped create a lively atmosphere. However, it was also always easy to find somewhere quiet and tranquil in the hotel grounds to relax with a book.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Beforehand, I clarify that we hate hurting people and that we would have greatly preferred to discuss frankly with management before leaving.
The problem is that our stay lasted 5 nights and starting from the second night,
we did not see them again.
1/ The welcome is absolutely lamentable. Arriving with our luggage, we had to wait endlessly without anyone attending to us, until someone from management finally considered us.
They say that the first impression is always the right one, especially when it is bad.
2/ The room absolutely does not meet what is expected of a three-star hotel.
You have to climb a very steep and dangerous ladder/stairs to go to bed in a sort of attic with a low ceiling where you bump your head!
You have to perilously descend this kind of ladder to go to the bathroom at night.
It is very uncomfortable, there is no view, it is very hot, and the only solution provided is a very low-quality fan, the terrible noise of which makes sleep impossible.
In the shower room, the hot water takes an eternity to flow...
3/ There isn’t even a refrigerator in the rooms, and not even coffee provided, which is unbelievable in a hotel of this category.
4/ Surprised that the cleaning was not done, even though we had placed the small sign requesting it on the handle, we had to go ask for it!
We were told, without the slightest embarrassment, that cleaning is done every three days!!!!!!
5/ The WIFI only works occasionally and poorly, cutting out all the time.
The general environment around the room resembles that of a poorly maintained country inn, but it is not the same price!
6/ We are directly next to the staff accommodations, who come out in the morning bare-chested from their rooms...
In reality, it is mainly a restaurant/bar; everything else does not match the advertised standard and comfort.
7/ While the setting of the restaurant is undeniably pleasant, the trout arrived cold...
8/ One morning we were awakened at 7 AM by the noisy maneuvers and pump of a truck that apparently came to empty the... septic tank.
It was 7 AM, and the truck was parked right in front of the breakfast room! next to the rooms.
We will let you imagine the pleasure of breakfast...
9/ But I saved the worst of the worst for last: the rudeness, disrespect, and vulgarity of some of the staff.
We were returning from 4 hours of hiking in the heat and asked for... water to fill our water bottles at the hotel bar.
We were immediately told to fill them at a fountain... outside the hotel.
We expressed our surprise, indicating that we were staying at the hotel, but the employee told us it was fresh and that we could help ourselves outside!
It should be noted that there is no fridge in the rooms and that we were in a heatwave.
In the evening, we tried again to ask for fresh water, and clearly this person was deliberately ignoring us.
When asking a cook for water, she responded that it was not her job! before mistreating us, sneering maliciously, and rudely mocking us, accompanied by her colleague. Two harpies completely out of control.
It was completely distressing, which is ironic in a place that boasts tranquility!
We are truly accustomed to staying in hotels; we are genuinely low-maintenance guests and respectful.
We are always willing to accept a few flaws and even some hiccups; the world cannot be perfect, and mistakes can happen.
What we want to express is that we have never been treated so poorly in a hotel!
If we had not made a reservation, we would have left earlier!
We want to clarify that this establishment is isolated and there is nowhere else to eat within a 20-minute drive.
In summary, this is a hotel that claims to offer a welcoming and warm atmosphere, playing on an image inherited from an ancestral history.
The reality is completely out of sync.
Ultimately, we left as early as possible at 6 AM without having breakfast, relieved to escape this place.
This is the first time in our lives, and we hope the last time, that we are forced to leave such a comment about an establishment.
