Pristine place lacks a decent restaurant and decent service

Not the first time visiting the place. But for the first time longer than one night. And, to be honest, the impression is very very bad. Give the service to the hands of the current staff and they will ruin this wonderful place completely in the following decade or even faster... What they gamble on is the absolute tranquility, amazing views and exploitation of the religiously meaningful place. But the service, oh My God, it's non existent: you may reserve a place in the restaurant and still don't get a table, or, moreover, get a table suitable for a part of your company only... If you request a simple change of towels and waste bin clearance, you will only get one of it at a time. All the time unhappy faces, as if they chew sth that makes them unhappy: in the restaurant, at the reception. If you show an effort to communicate in their language you're not going anywhere either - it's an absurd and rude altitude. The "hotel" lacks the very basics of the hotel: introduce the basics of the hotellier service: daily compulsory room keeping unless requested differently by the guests, complete fulfillment of guest requests, decent cosmetics with hair conditioner in the bathroom, complimentary water, air conditioning is also non-existant here. There are no glasses even for water inside the rooms, no hair dryers as if the guests would pack them up at the end of their stayThe most of personnel got stuck in Charles de Gaulle's times and can't mutter a few words more in English - that impedes basic communication. Don't recommend a place for more than one night. Don't recommend the restaurant either which is very average compared to the restaurants in the villages within 30 km radius from the mountain. As a historic site it's okay, beautiful place but don't be fooled by the "hotel" - it's at the lower end of its category. Hike up the mountain, have drink, walk around but think twice if you are going to stay here. There are plenty of much more decent overnight choices nearby with a nice attitude to the guests.

Soft but magical...

Small comfort 2* (bed 140, single pillow, no fridge or kettle) but very clean and very quiet. A little monastic, we would appreciate a decoration with a photo or a pious image. Breakfast 3*, especially on the terrace.
To dine next to a window with a view you have to arrive at 6:30 pm (“first come, first served”) because I was refused a table... But we hope to come back...

Courteous staff however if anything happens at night the person at the front has no authority to help.

One night in paradise

A warm reception,
Comfortable comfort for the room with excellent value for money
As expressed in another comment, a little nostalgia for the old atmosphere
A delicious meal, thanks to the new chef and young but attentive and competent waiters.
A true break of well-being and relaxation
Not to mention this beautiful place in the forest and full of spirituality.
