Very nice stay in Fleurie

We stayed here for 1 week in a chalet. Fortunately, there was air conditioning in the chalet, as in all chalets. Outside it was 38 degrees. Very special and definitely recommended is the excursion with old T2 VW bus past wineries with tastings and sights. Stephane tells a lot about that. Furthermore, beautiful chalets and camping pitches. Highly recommended.

Ok for a stopover

Overall, this is a nice enough campsite, but it didn’t quite live up to expectations.
If you don’t mind wood pigeons nesting in the trees above the pitches, you’ll probably be fine. Unfortunately, they were constantly fluttering around and left quite a mess on our motorhome throughout our stay.
The pool was disappointing. Our grandson only used it once as it didn’t look particularly clean and wasn’t very inviting.
The free wine tasting evening is a nice idea, but don’t forget to bring your own wine glass. If you don’t, you’ll need to buy one for €2.50. The wine selection wasn’t especially impressive either. In our opinion, it’s much better to take the 10-minute walk into the town, where you can visit the local wine shops and taste a much wider range of wines for free.
The campsite itself is fairly basic and seems to be adding more mobile homes onto what were previously touring pitches, making some areas feel more crowded with less space than before.
Overall, it’s perfectly adequate for an overnight stop or short stay, but we probably wouldn’t choose it for a longer holiday.

Barrel accommodation is a sauna with a bed in it

Do not book unless you can sleep in a sauna. The barrel accommodation was 45 degrees when we arrived, as there is no air conditioning and the campsite do not offer fans or simple services like opening windows or doors to air the accommodation. We were unable to sleep throughout the night as it did not cool down even with the window and door open through the night. We felt unsafe for our health and our security. The campsite initially said to air it until the evening when it would be uaeable then at 9pm when it was still unbearable to go inside, said they could not help us or offer a fan or an alternative as they were full then said they may beable to find something with air conditioning but it would cost us. The barrel is in a full sun plot with no shade, very close to plots either side and to the campsite road. The roof is of black felt and gets very very hot, not sure who designed this as a viable option in this hot region of France. The staff we found to be unhelpful and fixed with no concern for customer comfort or security, just focused on their rules and bottom line. Hopefully thr sheets and duvet were clean but were very crumpled, duvet cover not fastened, general lack of care. Pool is small for the size of the site and covered adding to the noise and stuffiness. The region is lovely, Fleurie around a 15 minute walk. Would not recommend though, try elsewhere in the area

Don't bother

Do not stay in their kids paradise in the summer! The kids section of the site was over 37° and uninhabitable. The staff didn't care. The main Chalet had aircon so 3 of us (inc toddler) had to sleep in the living room/kitchen. Some of the staff were lovely but others weren't. Not receptive to feedback. We hired bikes but they didnt have a toddler helmet (despite toddler seat) so couldn't use it, no compensation given. Charged an €80 cleaning fee without our permission, even though no fee was ever discussed and we had the clean the place when we arrived. Pool was lovely.

Bad experience

I own a Wonderbox and I wanted to book at this campsite. When I contacted them by phone, I was told that a reservation was possible and that I had to send the reservation request by email. By return email, I was informed that there was no more availability even though on their site, it is still possible to book. I wanted to know more and I contacted them by phone but when they answer me and I give them my name, they hang up on me. Because of this, I will not set foot there, neither via the box nor personally.
