An unforgettable stay – thanks to the whole team! ⭐
This review is nearly a year late (August 2025), but I never forgot you all. My wife and I still talk about how amazing our stay was.
The rooms were spotless, the shower was brilliant, the evening meals were delicious, and we loved the little pool.
A huge thank you to the lovely lady from Morocco who ran the cleaning team. You always had time for a chat, brought us a coffee, and with a mix of French, English, Arabic and ChatGPT Voice, we somehow always understood each other!
Thank you to Nathalie in the kitchen—we loved chatting with you about cooking. And thank you to the manager who helped us say goodbye to everyone on our last day.
Also, to the lovely young blonde waitress (sorry, I never got your name!) who was learning French—our conversations always made us smile. I'll definitely learn more French before we return!
Lyon is a beautiful, clean city and we always felt safe. My wife even came off her bike, and complete strangers rushed to help before a nearby restaurant cleaned and bandaged her arm. Sorry if anyone at the hotel heard her shouting later... that was me pouring whisky over the cuts!
People say the French are grumpy, but we found the complete opposite. We think making the effort to speak even a little French goes a long way.
We also met some fantastic French rugby fans who told us it was their dream to visit Scotland and watch rugby there. It was great having you over! And yes... sorry we beat France! Us Scots even ended up drinking Boston Dry because all the beer had gone!

A huge thank you to the charming Moroccan lady who managed the housekeeping team. You always had time to chat with us, you often brought us coffee, and thanks to a mix of French, English, Arabic, and ChatGPT Voice, we always managed to understand each other!
Thanks also to Nathalie in the kitchen. We loved talking about cooking with you. And a big thank you to the manager, who spoke English and French and who helped us say goodbye to everyone on the day of our departure.
Finally, thanks to the young blonde waitress (sorry, I never knew your name!) who was still learning French. Our conversations always made us smile. I promise, I will speak better French during our next stay!

A slight disappointment in an Ibis.
I would say the staff is kind, yes. Friendly young people; I asked questions, and the answers were not very clear, inaudible. The room was clean, and the bedding was excellent. The outside area is very nice, but unfortunately, it lacks regular maintenance during the day for the tables, dirty glasses, and the floor. (Be careful of glass debris) Attention to safety by the pool; guests are sitting on the loungers with glass dishes and smoking. But I know it is not easy to manage all the incivilities of the guests.

Decent price/quality ratio. Breakfast is good, AC on the other hand is bad.

Easy to find off the Autoroute, really friendly staff, clean rooms with comfortable beds, nice on site restaurant. Plenty to choose from for breakfast to start the morning off well. We would happily stay here again.

Comfortable, Quiet, and Convenient Stop Just off the Autoroute
We recently stayed at the ibis Lyon Nord as a stopover on our way to Spain, and it turned out to be a really pleasant experience. I have fond memories of staying here over 40 years ago as a child with my family, so it was special to return—this time with my own kids (16 and 18). We don’t usually stop and tend to drive straight through, but it was nice to break up the journey for once.
We were travelling with our dog, and the hotel is very dog-friendly—even allowing dogs in the restaurant, which was a big plus for us. After a long drive, we received a super friendly welcome from the staff. They all spoke English, although I did try out some of my old school French! We had checked in online beforehand, so the process was quick and easy, with just a small €5 city tax to pay on arrival.
We booked two connecting rooms, each with a double bed. Both rooms were clean and comfortable. One thing to note is that only one pillow per person is provided, and they are quite flat—so bringing your own extra pillows (as we did) is a good idea, although I’m sure the hotel would provide more if asked.
We had dinner in the on-site restaurant (reviewed separately), and overall had a very comfortable night’s sleep. The rooms were impressively quiet, which made a big difference after a long day of travelling.
Breakfast was good, with a decent selection including pastries, baguette, ham, turkey, cheeses, fruit, cereals, boiled eggs, jams, coffee, and juices. We later noticed there were also scrambled eggs and bacon available. We went down around 8:30am and everything was well stocked. The only thing we missed was a proper cup of tea.
Overall, this was a really enjoyable stopover. It’s conveniently located just off the autoroute, the staff are genuinely friendly, and it offers everything you need for a comfortable break in your journey. We would definitely stay here again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others.
