Lovely hotel with the potential to be great

Easy walk into the centre, takes around 10 to 15 mins on well lit pavements and other bars, cafes and shops are close by.
Friendly welcome given
We were in building accross the road and while this has dated corridors the rooms themselves are modern and fresh.
We had a lovely balcony over looking the carpark but could see the moon and stars.
Air conditioning very effective even in a heat wave and the shutters on the patio door blocked out light for a good nights sleep.
Beds made up every day and clean towels provided.
Over all a good hotel but it could be better if they improved a few things.
1. They have removed all fridges from rooms so you can’t keep a bottle of milk or wine or chilled soft drinks to hand. They do not provide milk sachets so take some powered milk with you if you like milk in tea and coffee. We wanted wine on the balcony and had to purchase a bag of ice to carry back to our room.
They say this is for environmental reasons but still have air conditioning? I suggest they consider the fridge option again.
2. Breakfast is poor. They advertise boiled eggs but when we asked they said they can not provide boiled eggs, we asked several staff and boiled eggs are not available despite being advertised.
Scrambled eggs run out frequently, as do croissants, crepes and other items. No one is really monitoring breakfast and you have to keep asking for the items they advertise.
3. They do sell wine by the bottle but when we asked the person on reception didn’t have the key to the fridge to sell us a bottle.
Provide a fridge, boil some eggs and have someone monitoring breakfast provision and this hotel would be perfect x
The communal sittings areas and courtyard are lovely. Provide a small bar service and guests would come down or have a night cap in the bar.
Some decor of the corridors would also really Improve first impressions but this really wasn’t as issue for our stay.

Deplorable hotel

Deplorable welcome
Cleaning done in a rush. Dust not wiped away. Vacuuming and floor washing, they don't know about it. Too complicated to clean the bathtub faucet .. you have to climb over !! Dirty glass and mirror.
The elevator is never cleaned! Too difficult or lack of qualified staff!!
Average breakfast., little variety
The staff does not always understand English..
Great hotel more than 10 years ago
Avoid at all costs!! There is definitely better in Biarritz!

Warning: some rooms do not conform to the advertised services.

Warning. The hotel offers rooms in two very different buildings: one corresponds to the photos on the website, the other is a building without any charm, on the other side of the street, without a reception or breakfast room. You therefore have to cross the street to go have breakfast, which is not indicated on the hotel's website.
If you are not satisfied with having been placed in the recent building (80s construction), you have to struggle to negotiate a room change, with the risk of being downgraded (we had paid for a room with a balcony and did not get a balcony, in the end).

Clean, comfortable beds, very friendly and helpful reception, close to the Basque beach and market

The room was clean, the beds comfortable, air condition working well and quiet, reception staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel is not far from the Basque beach and central market. Minuses: terrace furniture could be cleaned better (table and chairs). What is also not so convenient is the lack of a door to the shower area, which does not allow for enough privacy and noise limitation.
