This hotel employs thieves!!!
I brought my Samsung tablet with me because the TV was not a smart TV. I had to check out very early at 4 a.m. to reach the airport in time for my flight, and in the rush of waking up in the middle of the night, I exited the room quickly. The combination of the very poor lighting and being half asleep led me to accidentally leave my Samsung tablet in the hotel room. I only realised this mistake four days later.
I then called the hotel and also messaged them via Booking.com to ask whether my tablet had been found. Both staff members I spoke with denied that anything had been recovered, despite my giving clear instructions about the room number I stayed in (room 207). I was told that if belongings are found in a room, the cleaning staff are expected to bring them to a safe place where they can later be collected. This was clearly not the case here. I do not believe that another customer could have taken my belongings, as the room should have been cleaned thoroughly first. This leads me to believe that either the cleaning team or another member of staff was dishonest and kept the item while denying responsibility.
Although I acknowledge that it was my fault for not being more diligent with my belongings, I expect that if I misplace an item, I can rely on the security of the hotel Based on this experience, I recommend that anyone staying at this hotel take special precautions with their personal belongings. If you make the mistake of leaving something behind for any reason, there is no guarantee that you will not become a victim of theft. Please be very mindful if you choose to stay here and take extra care to protect your belongings, as the staff will completely deny any responsibility should you misplace your things.
My stay at the Hotel du Centre Annemasse was correct and the room was clean. However, the lighting in the room was very inadequate and should have been at least twice as bright to offer ideal comfort.

So I called the hotel and sent a message via Booking.com to ask if my tablet had been found. The two staff members I spoke with denied finding anything, despite the clear instructions I gave regarding the room number I was staying in (Room 207). I was told that if personal items are found in a room, the cleaning staff are supposed to drop them off in a secure place where they can then be retrieved. This was obviously not done in my case. I don’t think any other guest could have taken my things, as the room should have been thoroughly cleaned before being reassigned. This leads me to believe that the cleaning team, or another staff member, acted dishonestly and retained the object while denying responsibility.
While I admit that it was my fault for not being more attentive to my things, I expect to be able to count on the security of the hotel where I stay when I misplace something. Based on this experience, I recommend that anyone staying at this hotel take special precautions with their personal belongings. If you forget something, for whatever reason, there is no guarantee that you will not be the victim of theft, so be very careful if you choose to stay here, and carefully protect your belongings, as staff will refuse any responsibility if you misplace an item.
