Wonderful and unique B & B in former primary school. It sparks joy !
Nathalie, the owner, will welcome you with open arms and makes you feel at home. When you enter the building, you will be amazed. Colourful walls, playful decoration and old school benches, chairs, book....etc make this place one of a kind. The B & B sparks joy !
It has 4 huge, beautiful and comfortable rooms with it own bathrooms. Each very different. 2 rooms at the front and 2 rooms at the back. Some rooms have a bath and shower in the room, instead of having a separate bathroom. Good to know if you share the room with a friend :) The 2 rooms at the front are on the streetside. If you are a light sleeper, it is better to book a room at the back facing the school yard. The yard is full of chairs and long tables, sun chairs, swing, big tree for some shade and there is a covert part with table football. The breakfast is great. Every day it is slightly different and everything is fresh and local.
We slept 1 night in the B & B on our way to the south of France, but we loved it so much, that we booked again for 2 nights on the way back home. Opposite the B & B there is a wonderful restaurant with a Michelin star and you can also visit the abbey next to it. There is also a good restaurant 2 km away from the B & B with a big garden where you can eat pizza's and salads.
I could say a lot more about La Maison d'Ambronay, but I think you should check it out yourselves! Say hi to Nathalie from me.

Amazing place to stay
This place is unique, and it is a wonderful addition to the village. Allied with the marvelous restaurant 5 metres away across the narrow street, and the wonderful Abbey directly across from both the hotel and the restaurant, just sitting above the lovely town square; there is every reason for repeat visits to d'Ambronay, and we certainly plan to come back again and again over the coming years.
Nathalie has somehow fashioned a magnificent chambre d'hôtes out of an old infant school.
It is truly amazing what she has achieved.
Each of the 4 rooms is fantastic.
When we were there the weather was very hot, but the old building coped wonderfully well with the heat, and we had the most magnificent breakfast out in the sunshine on a long trestle table out in the schoolyard.
Nathalie went to considerable efforts to bring us the freshest and best pastries and bread, with beautiful fresh fromage frais, configured, honey, lovely salami, ham ,cheese etc. My wife declared it the best breakfast she could remember for a long time, and she is a breakfast expert.
Thank you Nathalie for making our stay so comfortable, enjoyable and pleasing.
