Molskroen befinder sig tæt på stranden i Lyngsbæk Strand – et område i Ebeltoft. Stedets naturskønne områder inkluderer blandt andet Nationalpark Mols Bjerge og Bogens Strand, mens Glasmuseet og Fregatten Jylland udgør nogle af kulturelle seværdigheder. Kalø Skovene og Ree Park Safari er også et besøg værd. Oplevelser som fiskeri giver gode muligheder for at komme ud på eller i det omgivende vand, eller du kan tage på eventyr ved at afprøve vandre-/cykelruter, ridning og mountainbiking i nærheden. Overnatningsstedet er røgfrit og har en restaurant, et mødelokale og hjælp med udflugter/billetter. A couple of lovely nights
Nice and clean and a fit size. The breakfast buffet and the restaurant were really good and cozy, and there was convenient to choose from.

Molskroen – Where ambitions aim high, but reality is out to pick up potatoes
You arrive with expectations of top-class gastronomic experiences. The interior promises good, the atmosphere is cozy, and nature plays with open cards. But then the reality hits. And it turns out to be characterized by young, well-meaning, but inexperienced servants, who sometimes seem more confused than the guests.
A special moment arose for breakfast, when we politely asked which of the four kinds of meat plates were without pork. After a lengthy thought break – where you could almost hear the ball frame clearing – the young man behind the buffet, who was actually putting glasses, pointed to the salmon... and the cheese. The answer was so frightening that we first thought we were part of a hidden camera broadcast.
Fortunately, the adult stepped on guard – the only one we could see – and pointed discreetly to an excellent bull salami. It did not save the situation, but at least set the scene correctly.
The same pattern repeated for lunch and dinner: A single adult seemed to keep track of the troops, while the rest of the staff acted like statists in a performance for which they had not completely gotten the script. There was a smile and kindness, but not much tranquility or routine behind the actions.
The cover was marked by forgotten cutlery, glass circulating as common property, and wine that – of course – was already opened, as if we were attending a picnic and not a gourmet dinner. The menu was a loose collection of ideas, where the same garniture went over and over again – the chef had obviously got an idea with a salmon stove that he couldn’t let go.
The sommelier, captain of the evening on the somewhat vacillating shut, moved professionally around between the tables. The only one over 25 years in the room who tried to keep together on a bunch who fought brave, but famled in the blind. He appeared as the adult who was checking if all the children were still wearing the flight suit.
And then there was the wait time. At the entrance is a humble sign with the words “Please wait”, and we did so. Long enough to get checked emails, read today's news and thought about whether the kitchen might be out and catch the fish with snares and rain worms.
The rooms? Yeah, if you're lucky, you live in the main house. If not, you will be lodged in an unmanned annex 200 meters down the road – charming and peaceful, but a little hard to feel like a guest when you have to find your way in the dark.
Fortunately, there are fine parking conditions and electric charging stands – when you still have to drive between the room and the restaurant, you can get your car charged.
The conclusion?
The Molskroen is a beautiful setting for a performance where the scenography plays, but the actors still practice the replicas. The food is good, the view breathtaking, and the frames in top – but the service is slowing down, like a bunch of statists who are not quite confident about the role. The prize and ambitions aim at the stars, but the experience barely reaches the hill.

Det glæder os, at I sætter pris på Molskroens smukke beliggenhed og de fysiske rammer. Samtidig er vi kede af at høre, at jeres samlede oplevelse ikke matchede de ambitioner og den kvalitet, vi tilstræber – hverken i restauranten eller i servicen.
Vi tager jeres kommentarer meget seriøst og vil bruge dem internt til at se nærmere på både træning og bemanding, især i spidsbelastede perioder. Vi er opmærksomme på, at et ungt team kræver tydelig ledelse og struktur – og det skal selvfølgelig ikke være gæstens ansvar at opleve eller bemærke.
Morgenmadsepisoden I beskriver, er beklagelig – og noget, vi burde have håndteret langt bedre og mere opmærksomt. Vi beklager også, hvis I følte jer overladt til jer selv i annekset – det skal naturligvis føles som en integreret del af opholdet.
