High standards, always.
We've visited half a dozen times since it changed hands (we also thought it was good pre-sale).
We know the owners from elsewhere and we know the chefs from a different establishment. They've come together to create something quite special.
The interior and exterior have been transformed, the bar is brighter, the restaurant is such an amazing space to dine, the outside area has the best views, the quoits pitches are superb having been created from scratch, the rooms look great etc etc.
But what stands out for us, aside from all of the above and the amazing food, is the staff... all polite, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.
But it's the kids that stand out, every one of them looks like they want to be there and are actually enjoying being there (which isn't always the case). Well done to whoever recruits and trains them, I wish I'd had you as a trainer for my staff!

As always, a wonderful visit...
For the last 8 years, we have rented a cottage in Finghall and frequented this establishment every year, apart from two years ago when it was undergoing refurbishment following a sale.
Last year we enjoyed a welcoming greeting, good beer and excellent food. This years' visit was much the same. Some additional decorating and improvements have been made but the overriding feature of the Queens Head in the quality of the staff, who do everything they can to ensure you have a good experience.
Dog friendly is always a bonus to us but generally in May/June, we can sit outside and enjoy a bit of sun.
Keep up the great offerings and excellent experiences for visitors.

Fabulous meal, great service, stunning setting
We stayed at a big celebration house in the village and booked the pub for our Saturday night meal. 12 ladies booked - they didnt want a deposit which was very good of them but we did pre-order. The menu is lovely - its way more than pub food and we sat in an extension over looking the valley in a lovely restaurant. All our starters and mains were very tasty. The service was great - the staff and locals were friendly. I was the hen so was dressed up but we are ladies all over 50 so not quite the rowdy party and we were also celebrating 50ths, 60ths and other peoples weddings recently too. Restaurant is lovely snd cosy - modern decorated. We had lasagne, trout, fish pies, chicken and leeks, prawn curry and seafood risotto's all fabulous.
Would highly recommend. They made it easy to pre-organise and could have happily asked for a deposit for such a big group but didnt. Loved it.

Pub crawl
What a beautiful pub in a tranquil setting..great food could have stayed there all day.

Four day break with friends.
This hotel is gem waiting to be found in Yorkshire.
We were staying at Sun Hill farmhouse which is about 1.5 miles away from the hotel.We went for a drink at lunchtime service was first class and friendly.Great selection of cask ales.
Later the same day we booked a table for 10 erveryone raved about how good the meal and service had been.
Extensive menu with varied dishes. I personally had the Lasagne and it’s one of the best I’ve tasted.
We only ate at the hotel cannot comment about staying.
We all wished we had found it a bit earlier in the week.
