Right.

No rooms that are very good with everything you need, the bathroom quite small but correct.
The only thing you hear a lot is the noise of corridors and stairs.

Horrible scam artist

Fina, the proprietor, speaks little to no English and yet managed to scam my friends and I. She claimed that our booking with booking.com was the wrong amount and demanded more money than the listed price because we came with 3 people rather than 2. While you might think an additional person charge might be reasonable, we also witnessed her attempting this scam on a couple who came in after us.
To make matters worse, the room wasn't cleaned by our check in time and we had to wait an additional hour before we could settle in. Fina even conscripted us in making our own beds. Overall it was horrible, reeked of bleach, and didn't have enough hot water so we ended up taking cold showers. Overall there were no redeeming traits to this experience aside from location, which is actually good. All in all, don't book this hostel.

great location close to almost everything

I had a room with bath with a balcony overlooking Barco Street. Fina is quite a character who will try to help you any way she can. The place is very clean. The wifi worked great, and there is use of a common kitchen if you want. The only problem I had was that the key to enter the 3rd floor was very tricky and required patience for it to unlock the door, the other two keys (room and front door) worked perfect.

Lovely owners, good location

The room was clean, with a bathroom and a fridge. I had also a balcony looking to Barco which wasn't a problem since I used earplugs for sleeping. The owner Fina is really friendly and helpful despite she doesn't speak English. The hostal is only 200 m from Gran Via so you can reach the most of Madrid attractions on foot

An unexpected Discovery

We knew that the hotel is not big when we booked it, but still we didn't expect that it is just one big flat!:) strangely, we realized that we were lucky in spite of the fact that the house entrance is not a posh one, and the furnishing of the room is quite basic. Our luck was the host of the flat, Fina, who is just a lovely lady. She doesn't speak much English, but she is so friendly and nice that you manage even without words.
As for the comfort, it's okay. Beds are big and comfortable, it's very clean there, bathroom is ok, and you can use the kitchen if you want which was important for us. There is a fridge in the room. Location is great - two minutes from Gran Via street.
We were quite satisfied with it.
