Restorative Stay
Our stay with Guillaume and Marlene was a perfect balance of rest and activity. The residence is located quite close to the water and to the center of town, an easy walk from many restaurants, shops, taxi hubs, ATMs, etc. Our room was spacious and airy, with large windows flung open to catch the sea breeze and a large, firm (but comfortable) bed. Though it was in the hallway, our private bathroom was well-appointed. A small kitchen and dining area at the end of the hall served a first rate breakfast, which varied day to day: crepes, couscous cake, omelettes, as well as a daily assortment of spreads, bread, juices, and coffee/tea. Guillaume and Marlene, the proprietors, and the entire staff could not have been nicer. Our room was kept spotless, our clothes were washed, our water bottles were kept filled...every need was met. Furthermore, the hosts’ recommendations for day hiking and dinner options were spot on. We left feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day-long hike from Ponta do Sol to Cruzinha, our next destination.

Disappointing
Based on some positive reviews we chose the B&B Casa D`Mar - but we were very disappointed. For some time our room was probably not inhabited: the pictures in the room were crooked, in the bathtub were rust spots, there was no plug, brown slime came from the soap dispenser on the tiny sink, the soap dispenser over the bathtub was empty, after check-in there was no contact person, only a bedside lamp in the room, only a window to open, in the "dressing room" there was no lamp - only cables from the wall.
There was a spartan breakfast on the roof terrace with junk in the corner and unresponsive decor. We were happy to leave after two days.

Easygoing B & B
We had a lovely 4 night stay at Casa D’Mar in a comfortable room with a “mountain”
Guillaume helped us choose our hikes and arranged transport “collective” back to Porto Novo. Casa D’Mar was well located in Pinta do Sol close to all bars and restaurants. The price was reasonable, the decor of the room, breakfast room all superb.

A Peaceful Place with a Wonderful View
Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Casa D'Mar. It is a quiet B&B, located in a quiet part of town, with stunning views towards the ocean on one side and the rugged mountain backdrop on the other. I stayed in the Sodade room, which was very bright, light and airy, and a private bathroom located down the corridor, though on consideration I would probably have paid just a few escudos more for one of the two rooms with private bathrooms attached. Breakfast was delicious, and included a different traditional Cape Verdean dish each morning. The owners were very helpful and friendly when around, though my one issue was that I believe they could have been just that little bit more readily available, if not in person at least by phone/email. Nevertheless, a very good stay, very friendly, very peaceful and very quiet.

Casa d'mar
The view is not as the picture. You have in front of you old airport. The see is not praticable. Snorkeling not possible. No beach. Too much wind.
But the house is very good. Breakfast wonderful. Room clean
The staff is always available to help you and give you recommandation to discover the island.
