Auberge De La Canche

Auberge de la Canche stands on the banks of the Canche River in between Le Touquet and Montreuil-sur-Mer. Its bright, en suite rooms have private showers, TV and free Wi-Fi. The restaurant in the Auberge de la Canche serves traditional meat and fish dishes in a cosy dining room fit with a chimney. In the summertime you can enjoy your meal on the terrace. Other restaurants are available in the surrounding area. During the winter months the heated veranda is a fine place to enjoy a drink or admire the surrounding countryside and the river. Free private parking is available and breakfast service is available daily. Please inform Auberge De La Canche in advance of your expected arrival time. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly with the contact details provided in your confirmation. Please note that the reception is closed every day from 14:30 to 18:30. The restaurant is closed on Monday evenings and all day on Tuesdays. Please note that Chèques Vacances holiday vouchers are not an accepted method of payment. Fabulous leisurely lunch

Our second visit for lunch at this lovely restaurant.
First time we ate outside overlooking the river, which was very peaceful.
This time we ate in the main restaurant. Service was excellent and the food was too.
The most relaxing place with everything being superb.
Looking forward to going again for a Saturday evening.

Usefully positioned but a bit grotty.

Usefully positioned a few miles from the A16 about 50 minutes from Calais, we chose this auberge for a stopover on our way home. Although it's fairly inexpensive it wasn't great, and felt like a boarding house for travelling salesmen. Clean enough, but shabby; tiny shower cubicle; thin partioned rooms, so noisy. It prides itself as a restaurant as well; the food was ok but not as good as it likes to think. Next time we'll pay a bit more and go into nearby Montreuil.

Great place to stop on route

Great place for our stop over on route to our final destination at the south of France. The people in this hotel didn't speak much English but were very nice and did all they could to help and communicate. We were delayed as our crossing in the Eurotunnel had big delays and it meant we arrived at this hotel at 2am. We knew we were going to be late from the start and they were very accommodating and organised a way for us to arrive at the late hours without a problem. It was a comfortable place to have a few hours sleep and a good continental breakfast before the rest of our journey. We didn't get to see much of the surrounding area but the river passing through looked lovely and tranquil.

Restaurant

Stayed in Montreuil 11-13 November but was unable to secure a restaurant booking in town. Hotel suggested this Auberge. The food did not disappoint. Good choice from the €30 menu and excellent quality although the lack of a cheese option at the end of the meal was a bit disappointing. Overall mark lowered by the lack of ambiance. Very quiet like a library the night we went in with mainly older customers at the tables. The decor looked quite new and clean. But the light grey paint, image of Buddha, fish tank and modern pictures of bamboo (and actual bamboo in vases) suggested an attempt to create a spa-like atmosphere that didn't quite work. However, we had a lovely meal so if you are looking for good quality food this is a good option off the main track.

Lovely place excellent food

Lovely family-run hotel and restaurant. Evening meal food was excellent with nice little added extras. The fish was well cooked and tasty as was all the food. Lovely setting and outlook and convenient for Le Touquet and Calais etc. Rooms were clean and adequate though I would recommend a large room if you are staying any length of time. However for our one night stay the rooms were fine. Breakfast seems expensive for what you get. 8 Euros for a croissant and some bread. Perhaps some fruit salad or cooked items could have been added. All in all a good place to stay.
